Just few days ago, I shared with you what I entitled “Talk is no longer cheap”. Today, on the Business in You Daily, I am delighted to introduce to you, another industry that is creating jobs for young people. This fast growing industry is called “Spoken Word Poetry!”
Ladies and gentlemen, permit me to introduce to you, one of the pioneers of this industry in Nigeria, Mr. Ikhuenbor Vikram Osarumen. He is a follower and reader of the Business in You Daily and has these to share with us…
“I am Ikhuenbor Vikram Osarumen popularly known as Vikram Da Ace Poet. I am a multiple award winning spoken word artist/poet. Spoken word poetry in Nigeria is a fast growing industry which to a large extent most people do not appreciate because, they are not aware of the potency in the art. For me, the art is the quickest means to pass on a reality, despite philosophies and ideologies.
It is a craft I have mastered over time as well as mentor upcoming spoken word poets. This art is unlike the very archaic form of poetry delivery, which derives its form from varying literary devices. Hence, we say it is an admixture of simpler literary finesse to drive home a given message. My kind of spoken word poetry seeks to bring divine answers to the questions of many as they listen. The art in itself is creative, enlightening, educating, entertaining and life changing.
I have seen the power of God touch base as I ministered and got people healed. It has given a lot of persons a sense of direction and purpose. This industry is our ministry through which we curb the excesses of obscene contents in other works of art and we guard it jealously against obscene contents. I am the founder of the spoken word academy called Ace Academy and we run the trending spoken word concert called “SPEAK OUT LOUD”.
It is a platform that blesses lives as well as giving upcoming poets a chance to showcase the art. A lot of teeming youths have gone off the streets and have found purposes in it. I have ministered at conferences, religious meetings, marriages, political/social campaigns, high profile dinners, house warming parties and lots more.
The beauty about this is that, I also get well paid doing it. In actual fact, it is an angle the society should look critically into for greener pasture and job creation for young people. Spoken word poetry has always been an art of class. It’s the next big thing to take over the world.”
