Reaveled ........Jamb 2016/2017 Admission cut off marks

After much debating and rumours.
Here is the final verdict.
This is what has come to stay.
The cut off mark for all universities is 180.
The cut off mark for all Polytechnics is 180.
The cut off mark for all colleges of education is 180.
In short, admission into a Nigerian tertiary institution.
Any tertiary institution at all.
You need a minimum of 180 in the Jamb UTME.
Here is exactly how jamb is saying it:
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) and tertiary education stakeholders on Thursday in Abuja adopted 180 as the cut-off mark for 2016 admission into universities, polytechnics and colleges of education.
The decision was reached at the 2016 Combined Policy Meeting on Admissions to Degree, Nigerian Certificate of Education (NCE) and National Diploma (ND) chaired by the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu. In his opening remark, Mr. Adamu said if there was confidence in JAMB’s conduct of the University Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME), there should be no need for post-UTME.
The post-UTME is organised by various tertiary institutions to screen candidates who applied to such institutions and who had scaled through JAMB’s UTME. “If the universities have problem with what JAMB is doing, they should come forward with it and we will address it. “JAMB is one of the most active parastatals in the ministry; I expect that policies that would be beneficial to Nigerian students should be discussed at this meeting.
“I believe there should be no ground to lower the quality; Nov. 30 remains the closing date for 2016 admission. “No institution should exceed its quota in admission; we will start issuing penalties to defaulting institutions.’’
So disregard any other news that contradicts this one.
And also;
Forget about all the long list below.

Here is the latest news on Jamb 2016 cut off marks.
Jamb and tertiary education stakeholders just finished their meeting.
That meeting they’ve been talking about for so long.
So what did decide?
What is the new 2016 Jamb UTME Cut off mark
Glad you asked.
It’s 180.
According to them, all Universities, Colleges of Education and Polytechnics will now use 180 as their admission bench mark.
Also, during the opening remarks in the meeting. The minister of education – Mr Adamu Adamu said “if there was confidence in JAMB’s conduct of the University Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME), there should be no need for post-UTME.”
This does not exactly translate to there will be no post UTME.
Remember that after the 2015 UTME. The same meeting was held.
And these same folks decided that the general cut off marks should be pegged at 180.
Schools like Uniben, Unilag, Uniport, Futminna etc still kept their cut off mark at 200.
My advice is that:
You should prepare for the worst case scenerio.
Don’t toss your books under the bed cuz someone advised that there should be no post utme.
Most schools may still conduct Post UTMEs.
If it happens that there is no Post UTME, what would you lose??

I should also add that in Jamb’s normal policy committee meeting 2015. They did decide that 180 should be the flat rate cut off mark for all universities. The Polytechnics and Colleges of Education was set at 150. Below is how it was quoted on Jamb website.

JAMB SETS 2015 CUT–OFF MARKS

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) at the 2015 Policy Committee meeting with all heads of tertiary education and other stakeholders agreed on the 2015 cut-off marks for Degree and non Degree awarding programmes. The meeting adopted the last year cut-off marks of 180 for Universities and 150 for Polytechnics, Colleges of Education and Innovative Enterprises Institutions for 2015/2016 admissions exercise | source

But you know how it is. Some universities still go ahead and set a different bench mark for poor applicants. Use the list above to check that which your school has decided on.
